Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen, ahead of our Premier League clash with Everton at Old Trafford tomorrow lunchtime (12:30 BST).
Shaw, was withdrawn during our 1-0 success over Brentford in M16 on Wednesday evening and has thus been ruled out of the contest with Sean Dyche's side.
There is good news elsewhere, however, with midfielder Christian Eriksen set to return to the matchday squad, after being pictured returning to first-team training at Carrington.
Set to be a tough battle against the Merseyside outfit, United will be bidding to make it 25 games unbeaten at home in all competitions.
With the full extent of Shaw's latest setback yet to be fully revealed, Erik was quizzed by the media on whether or not both players could return to feature against the Toffees tomorrow.
"Luke Shaw is not available for tomorrow,'' began the boss. ''And we have to see how it progresses in the coming week.
''The good news is Christian Eriksen is back in training and he will be back tomorrow in the squad."
With our no.14 having been out action since January, it is welcome return for the former Brentford man, who was pictured in the stands in midweek as we saw off Thomas Frank's side.
Fearing Eriksen's injury was at first worse than initially expected, Ten Hag explained his delight at being able to welcome the 31-year-old back into the fold this weekend.
"I think it was not for nothing,'' he added. ''I was so angry about that tackle and he was away - at first we feared we had lost him for the whole season but he worked very well.
''I think the medical department did really well and in togetherness he is already returning to the squad and so is available for the final stages of the season. We are very pleased with that."
